Purpose
The Korean Association of Research Management and Administration (KARMA) was founded on June 21, 2024, to systematically develop and share professional expertise and practical knowledge in research administration, to create an environment where researchers can fully focus on their work, and to strengthen the capacity of professional staff in order to support the sustainable growth of the national R&D ecosystem. Established as a non-profit incorporated association under the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Association recognizes research administration as a core infrastructure for research innovation and seeks to enhance Korea's R&D competitiveness through the professionalization of research support.
- First, to advance research and establish an academic foundation for the theory and practice of research administration
- Second, to provide systematic education and training for research administration professionals and to strengthen their competencies
- Third, to promote active exchange and collaboration among research administration organizations across industry, academia, research institutes, and government
- Fourth, to serve as a platform for sharing information and policies on research administration at both the domestic and international levels
- Fifth, to encourage mutual cooperation among members and reinforce the identity of the Association as a professional community
Through these activities, KARMA aims to establish research administration not merely as a support function but as a driving force for research innovation, contributing to greater efficiency and enhanced performance in national R&D.
